EDITOR-IN-CHIEF
- Ronald Schell, PhD, Professor
of Medical Microbiology & Immunology and Chief Bacteriologist
at the University of Wisconsin Medical School, as well as Chief
of Bacteriology, Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene brings
over 34 years of experience as a microbiologist devoted to spirochetal
research. He earned his Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctorate degrees
from the University of Wisconsin. His major research interest
is the host response to the Lyme disease bacteria, Borrelia burgdorferi,
and its cousin, Treponema pallidum, the causative agent of syphilis.
Ronald has been a member of various societies, including the
American Association of Immunologists, American Public Health
Association, American Society of Microbiology, American Venereal
Disease Association, and the Reticuloendothelial Society. He
has done research projects under National Institutes of Health
grants since 1977, and has been studying the hamster immune response
to Treponema pallidum for the last 26 years under a grant from
the World Health Organization. Dr. Schell completed Postdoctoral
Fellowships at the Baylor College of Medicine and the University
of Texas. He is author or coauthor of over 179 peer-reviewed
papers, making him arguably the most peer-reviewed published
scientist of all researchers that study Lyme disease.

- Former Editor-In-Chiefs
Dr. Bosler is an original
cofounder and Board member and has served as the Managing Editor
of the LDF's Journal of Spirochetal and Tick-borne Diseases.
Edward has his B.S. from Juniata College, and his MS & PhD
from Rutgers University. His professional affiliations include
the NY Academy of Sciences, American Association for the Advancement
of Science, National Wildlife Association, American Society of
Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, Association of Veterinary Microbiologists,
Sigma Xi, and the Entomological Society of America. He is author
or coauthor of over 50 peer-reviewed publications, including
several landmark Lyme papers. Ed was cohost of the first NY LD
International Conference in 1997 and served as coeditor of the
NY Academy of Science's book, Lyme Disease and Related Disorders.
He has served as scientific advisor and grant reviewer for the
National Institutes of Health, and as a manuscript reviewer for
numerous prestigious scientific publications, including the New
England Journal of Medicine, Journal of Infectious Disease, Journal
of the American Veterinary medical Association, and Journal of
Clinical Microbiology. Dr. Bosler has a long history of obtaining
Federal funds to study prevention techniques, including several
multi-year grants from the Centers for Disease Control. He is
a 20-year veteran of the NY State Department of Health. He specialized
in epidemiology, ecology, immunology, and pathogenesis of tick-borne
pathogens and biting flies.

- Richard C. Tilton, PhD, with
over four decades of research and publication experience, is
an additional Editor-in-Chief. He is also a former Editor-In-Chief
of the Journal of Clinical Microbiology and has published over
150 scientific articles, 20 books, and 175 abstracts/briefs.
Dick served as principal investigator in a dozen scientific studies
and is board-certified by the American Board of Medical Microbiology.
Dr. Tilton earned fellowships from the American Academy of Microbiology,
Association of Clinical Scientists, and Infectious Disease Society
of America. He has honorable distinctions from the American Society
for Microbiology Foundation as National Lecturer in Clinical
Microbiology and is the first recipient of the Abbott Award for
Research. Dr. Tilton earned his PhD in microbiology from the
University of Massachusetts, started his 24-year college teaching
career at Boston University School of Medicine, and then moved
to the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. Dick left
his position as Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education
to establish North American Laboratory Group, which is currently
owned by Specialty Laboratories. Dr. Tilton presently works for
Medical Diagnostic Laboratories of New Jersey.
